Paranormal Investigator — Hide & Seek Paraquest

THE BELIEVING SKEPTIC

Kate has been part of Hide & Seek Paraquest since 2005, making her one of the longest-standing members of the team.

She describes herself simply as a Believing skeptic.

For Kate, being interested in the paranormal doesn't mean automatically believing every claim. She approaches investigations with an open mind while still questioning what she sees, hears and experiences.

And sometimes, even her skeptical mind is left without an answer.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Kate was introduced to the paranormal — and to Hide & Seek Paraquest — by John.

What began as an introduction to the world of paranormal investigation eventually became a long-term passion and a journey that has kept her investigating for more than two decades.

HER FIRST PARANORMAL EXPERIENCE

One of Kate's earliest memorable experiences happened in a pub cellar in the UK.

While there, she heard people calling her name.

It was one of those experiences that stayed with her and became part of her continuing interest in the unexplained.

BISHOPS PALACE

One of Kate's most memorable paranormal experiences occurred at Bishops Palace, where she heard a female voice.

On another occasion at a jail, she experienced what felt like someone patting her on the backside.

Experiences like these are exactly why Kate maintains her position as a believing skeptic she doesn't automatically dismiss what happens, but she also doesn't automatically label everything paranormal.

THE SKEPTIC

Kate isn't afraid to question things.

When asked what unexplained experience has challenged her the most, her answer says it all:

My skeptical mind can't answer that.

For Kate, that's an important part of investigating.

Not everything needs to have an immediate explanation, but not having an explanation doesn't automatically make something paranormal either.

Sometimes you simply have to admit:

I don't know.

EQUIPMENT

Kate has an unusually simple answer when asked what piece of paranormal equipment she couldn't investigate without:

Me lol.

Kate prefers little or no equipment whenever possible, relying heavily on her own observations and experiences.

For her, the investigator is just as important as the equipment being used.

A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

One of Kate's most memorable experiences wasn't necessarily during an investigation.

Her Nana passed away in Australia while Kate was in the UK.

Afterwards, Nana appeared to Kate in a dream.

Kate described having a long conversation with her and remembers the dream extremely clearly.

Whether someone sees that as paranormal, psychological or simply a powerful dream is open to interpretation.

For Kate, however, it remains a deeply memorable experience.

THE HSPQ FAMILY

After so many years with Hide & Seek Paraquest, Kate sees the team as more than just a group of investigators.

They're family.

She believes the team benefits from having people with different approaches and perspectives.

And Kate knows exactly what she brings to the table:

Skepticism.

As she puts it:

You always need one skeptic.

Her willingness to question evidence and challenge assumptions helps keep investigations balanced.

FAVOURITE LOCATIONS

Kate doesn't have one particular favourite location.

Her answer is simply:

All of them.

She enjoys the opportunity to investigate somewhere new and experience what each location has to offer.

For someone who has been investigating for as long as Kate, every new building brings the possibility of something different.

AWAY FROM THE PARANORMAL

Kate keeps some things close to the chest when it comes to her life outside investigating.

One unexpected fact about her is that she did weightlifting in high school — something people may not necessarily expect from a paranormal investigator.

She doesn't have a particular favourite horror movie or paranormal television show either.

For Kate, the real fascination is the experience itself.

IF KATE COULD HAVE A PARANORMAL ABILITY

Kate would choose the ability to:

Communicate directly with spirits.

For someone who already approaches paranormal investigation with an open but skeptical mind, being able to communicate directly with spirits would certainly provide some interesting opportunities and probably a whole lot of questions.

WHY HIDE & SEEK PARAQUEST?

For Kate, the people are a major part of what makes HSPQ special.

Her description of the team is simple but powerful:

After being part of the organisation since 2005, Kate has seen the team evolve, grow and change.

Yet the core remains the same:
